Fall Semester Description
Each fall Accademia dell’Arte offers an intensive, conservatory-style music program designed in partnership with
Furman University. In addition to the Italian language component offered at the Accademia, students will study applied music (voice or instrument) in weekly lessons with Italian music teachers. Furman faculty members will teach a music history survey course and a basic conducting class, and Italian musicologist Dr. Cecilia Luzzi will direct a seminar on the Italian Madrigal.
A bonus for the students in the program is a week-long series of excursions and lectures led by Furman art faculty that reveal the richness of Tuscany’s incomparable visual art and architecture.
Students will also take part in numerous performances of chamber music and solo recitals both at the Accademia and in local venues. Regular concert attendance in Florence and multiple-night excursions to Rome and Venice give students further appreciation for the marvels of Italian life and culture.
Application procedure requires submission of supplemental materials by July 1. For further information on the fall music program student application process, contact
info@dell-arte.org.
